PRINTED PLAN SHEETS NOW AVIALABLE ON BID EXPRESS^®

Gainesville, Fla. –A new service is now available on Bid Express that will give on-line plan room subscribers the ability to order printed plan sheets with just a few clicks. Bid Express has partnered with two printing and fulfillment companies to offer this convenience.

“Bid Express has offered the On-Line Plan Room for several years to make accessing and viewing plans sheets easier,” said Joe Phelan, Director of Marketing and Sales for Bid Express. “The added ability to order printed plans and have them shipped makes this service even more valuable to contractors.”

Currently, the state transportation agencies in Iowa, New Jersey, Georgia and New Mexico have implemented the On-Line Plan Room on Bid Express and several other agencies are evaluating the service. This service allows contractors to view and download plan sheets from any computer before printing or buying plan sets. Not buying extra and unnecessary plan sets can literally save a contractor thousands of dollars. Nearly 400 contractors subscribe to this service.

Current On-Line Plan Room subscribers can start using the print services today. The cost of the subscription has not increased. It is still only $95/month for unlimited viewing and downloading of plan sets from all the agencies that have activated the On-Line Plan Room. The cost of the optional printed plan sets varies based on the number of sheets in the plan set, the paper size and the delivery method selected. Bid Express subscribers bidding with an agency that does not have the On-Line Plan Room should let the agency know if they are interested in this convenient service.

To order printed plan sets through Bid Express, go to an agency's Bid Express web site, select the Lettings tab, select a project and click on the link labeled "Plansheet Documents." At the bottom of the page below the thumbnail sketches, there is a box labeled "Order Entire Planset" which provides a choice of vendors through which to place an order. The print companies are R. S. Knapp "Napco" and Triangle Art. To place an order, a valid credit card is required. The order will be handled by the print vendor through a secure internet link to their ordering system. The printing and shipping of the order is handled entirely by the printing company.

Bid Express is a web bidding information service developed exclusively for the road construction industry. By using Bid Express, contractors can save time needed for preparing and submitting bids and bid bonds on paper, and travel time and expense in attending lettings. Simple screens allow contractors to quickly scan all current lettings, and a search function is available for keyword information on current lettings and bid tab data from previous lettings. Users have access to lettings from all state transportation agencies using Bid Express -- not just those of their home state. Agencies benefit by not needing additional staff at lettings and by generating and tracking less paper. They also get electronic bids that are more accurate and ready to load.

Contractors pay a minimal monthly subscription fee for the basic service, and can elect additional add-on, bidding-related services, including access to electronic plan sheets, the small business network for reaching subcontractors, and a bid tabs analysis service.
