BID EXPRESS® NOW VERISIGN® CERTIFIED
   Press Release

Gainesville, Fla. – Bid Express recently earned a certification under the VeriSign® Security Certification Program. This certification is a true benefit to Bid Express subscribers and member agencies who can now be even more assured of the safety and security of their bidding information.

VeriSign, the leading provider of security and infrastructure services, conducted an assessment in 2006 and issued the certification in January, 2007. In its certification letter, VeriSign stated that it is “pleased to verify that the Bid Express Service, its supporting infrastructure, and the governing policies, processes, and procedures has been certified under the VeriSign® Security Certification Program.”

“The VeriSign seal is a testament to the excellent work being done by our staff and it is an additional source of comfort for Bid Express users,” said Tom Rothrock, senior vice president of Info Tech. “The certification shows how serious we are about security measures for our on-line bidding service.”

The assessment included a detailed review of Bid Express’s network architecture, the policies and processes used to manage the infrastructure and personnel, the results of recurring vulnerability testing of the critical systems, and the critical device configurations.

VeriSign further stated that, “In our opinion, as of the Certification Date above, Bidx.com, Inc., an Info Tech company has met the requirements of the VeriSign Security Certification Program with respect to its Bid Express Service networks, systems and supporting security policies and procedures. As such, Bidx.com, Inc., an Info Tech company, has demonstrated that, as of the Certification Date, it has taken reasonable and appropriate steps to (i) identify and manage information security risks relating to the enterprise, and (ii) utilize information security best practices in the area(s) assessed.”

Bid Express is a web bidding information service developed exclusively for the road construction industry. By using Bid Express, contractors can save time needed for preparing and submitting bids and bid bonds on paper, and travel time and expense in attending lettings. Simple screens allow contractors to quickly scan all current lettings, and a search function is available for keyword information on current lettings and bid tab data from previous lettings. Users have access to lettings from all state transportation agencies using Bid Express -- not just those of their home state.  Agencies benefit by not needing additional staff at lettings and by generating and tracking less paper. They also get electronic bids that are more accurate and ready to load. States typically participate in a pilot program for several months to introduce the service to their bidding community before officially accepting Internet bids.

Contractors pay a minimal monthly subscription fee for the basic service, and can elect additional add-on, bidding-related services, including access to electronic plan sheets, the small business network for reaching subcontractors, and a bid tabs analysis service.

Bid Express is offered by BidX.com, an Info Tech company. Info Tech software is installed in 40 state departments of transportation, several hundred US cities and counties and two foreign countries, performing a wide range of functions from project estimation to contract administration to electronic bidding. Info Tech, based in Gainesville, Fla., provides customer-oriented, highly technical consulting, software development, systems integration and network communications services for transportation agencies, consulting engineers and contractors.
