Proposal CDRER00527

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to repair damage from the November 30, 2018, earthquake. During inspections after the earthquake, cracks of various widths and lengths were discovered on the driving surface and fore slope of many roadways throughout the Central Region. Areas where damage occurred include but are not limited to; the Anchorage Bowl, Mat Su Valley, Seward Highway, Glenn Highway, and the Parks Highway corridors. DOT&PF is proposing to repair these cracks and voids using various methods, depending on the size of the crack. The purpose of this project is to keep spring runoff water from infiltrating the roadway and damaging the subsurface material. Additional embankment repairs may be needed if there are cracks that have developed on the shoulders of the road. Damaged material would be removed and replaced with new material to restore the integrity of the roadway embankment.
